A one-member Minority Commission was established on 03.07.1969. The following arrangements were made for reorganization of the Commission by the Department of National Integration in 26.06.1974.

The Commission will also have a Secretary.
In the year 1994, the Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission Act-1994 was notified for giving statutory status to the Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission. The Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission Act-1994 (as amended by Act-2013) provided 01 Chairman and 08 members (02 female members) from among the minorities in the Commission. The term of office of the Hon’ble Chairman/Members of the Commission is fixed at 03years. Under the section-2(c) of Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission Act-1994 Muslim, Sikh, Christians, Baudh, Parsi and Jain community notified as a minority community in Uttar Pradesh.
