About The Department

A one-member Minority Commission was established on 03.07.1969. The following arrangements were made for reorganization of the Commission by the Department of National Integration in 26.06.1974.

2. Representative of Christian Community. 01 Member
3. Representative of Muslim Community. 01 Member
4. Representative of Sikh Community. 01 Member
5. Representative of Scheduled Castes. 01 Member
6. Representative of Scheduled Tribes. 01 Member
7. Secretary, National Integration Department Member
8. Director, Social Welfare Department. Member
9. D.l.G, Police (Vishesh Karyadhikari) Member

The Commission will also have a Secretary.

In the year 1994, the Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission Act-1994 was notified for giving statutory status to the Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission. The Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission Act-1994 (as amended by Act-2013) provided 01 Chairman and 08 members (02 female members) from among the minorities in the Commission. The term of office of the Hon’ble Chairman/Members of the Commission is fixed at 03years. Under the section-2(c) of Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission Act-1994 Muslim, Sikh, Christians, Baudh, Parsi and Jain community notified as a minority community in Uttar Pradesh.
